Description
The Oh La La wallpaper displays the experimental, organic and textural nature of Slaughter’s art. To create this piece, which was originally a triptych of canvases, she poured, scraped, layered and otherwise manipulated paint on the canvas to create a wallpaper that is rich in both colour and texture.
Renowned American abstract artist Kiki Slaughter works from her crumbling studio in a 19th century cotton gin factory. Her work is as an experiment with the fundamental process of painting. She pours, scrapes, layers and otherwise manipulates paint on the canvas to create works that are rich in both colour and texture. She is inspired to paint by the very act of painting. In this way, her method is also her muse.
