The Gifted Few’s 2019 Trend Report
So February is finally here! Goodbye dry January, fad diets and Christmas blues and hello to preparing for spring and having fun again. We have been hard at work visiting trade shows trying to source lots of new beauties to bring you and we have found some gems that we will be rolling out over the coming weeks. We actually can’t wait to show you, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for when the new products drop. In the mean time, while you have to sit tight and wait, I thought now would be the perfect time of the year to have a look ahead at what trends are predicted to be big in 2019. Obviously every interior blogger/stylist/designer has their own take on what the key trends are going to be big so we thought we’d throw our design hat in to the mix and share what we think is going to be big in 2019.
So it seems we have been ahead of the game when it comes to yellow. We are big fans of using yellow in our home, I mean we are so dedicated to it that we painted our front door bright yellow. We love to be bold! Yellow is finding it’s way more in to the mainstream this year, especially with rich Mustard tones. We have some bold yellow beauties to bring you in the coming weeks which I’m sure you will love as much as we do.
One big thing that you will start to notice this year is Curves! Curves curves curves! Furniture, architecture, product design is all having a big thing with sexy curves right now and we massively approve! You just have to look at pinterest and you will see curves everywhere. We say embrace this and see where you can incorporate it in your home. We have this lovely arch vase by &Klevering available in either blue or green which is a good place to start. Pair it on your shelf with the circle vase in either red or pink and you will have yourself a sexy little pair of curves!
The tropical theme is still going strong in 2019 and there is so many ways you can embrace this trend. Wallpaper is a good place to introduce tropical hues and there is something to suit every taste. You can go big and bold with something like the Ardmore Savuti wallpaper from Cole & Son. One of my personal favourites is Tropical Foliage from Mind the Gap. Strong pink and green game wins it for me. If you’re not looking to commit quite so much to the tropical trend with wallpaper then you could always just adorn your shelves with one of our fabulous Mr Leopard coinbanks as featured in The Sunday Times Stella Magazine recently in Stella Loves. We have one in our home and he does look fab along side our leopard candlesticks. We have some new coinbanks coming soon which will certainly fit the tropical trend, keep your eyes peeled this month for them landing on the website. We can’t wait to show you!
There are so many other trends that appeared at the recent trade shows, including perhaps rather surprisingly a big thing for rattan / cane furniture. We saw many updated versions of this style, from dining room chairs right through to beds! Rich earthy tones were also popular which perhaps is less surprising as we saw this quite a lot last year. Our personal advice when it comes to ‘trends’ is that if you love it then go for it and embrace it, if it’s just not your thing then who cares? It’s your home and you should fill it with things that make you happy. Personally I follow my own instincts and yes sometimes it does coincide with the next big thing but I always go with what I love and thankfully there is so much choice out there you can be as big and bold as you want (if that’s you thing of course!)
